# How do independent hotels in DACH and Italy really run their operations?

We are preparing an open survey of independent hotels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy about staffing, shift handover, guest requests, upsell and the tools teams use. The method and the questions are published here first. Results will be published only when enough hotels have answered, and never with invented numbers.

## Where does the survey stand?

Not open yet. There are no results and no numbers on this page. Register below and we will send you the survey when it opens, and the results when they exist.

## How will it work?

- Who: general managers, owners and department heads of independent hotels and small groups (up to about ten hotels) in DE, AT, CH and IT.
- How: an online questionnaire of about 20 questions, in English, German and Italian, about 10 minutes.
- When: one wave per year; the first opens after the founding programme starts.
- Publication: aggregated results only, per country group, and only for groups with at least 30 answers. Every chart states its sample size.
- Independence: Oste runs the survey and says so on every page of the results; questions about tools never name Oste as an option.

## What will we ask?

- How many rooms and how many people on the team, by department?
- Which PMS do you use, and which other tools does the team use every day?
- How is a shift handed over today: paper, chat group, software, or not at all?
- How many languages are spoken in your team?
- Do you sell extras before arrival or at check-in, and how?
- What is your labour cost per occupied room, if you track it?
- What breaks most often on a busy morning?

## What happens to my answers?

Answers are stored in the EU and published only as anonymous totals. No answer is linked to a hotel in anything we publish. Registering to take part uses the request form below, with its privacy notice.
